F.A. Charter
Maypole FC achieved FA Charter Standard in September 2005 after achieving standards set by the FA that represent best practice for coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people.
FA Charter Clubs are required to meet FA criteria, ensuring they provide opportunities for players irrespective of age, gender, religion and ability. The project is aimed at helping children and parents find a club in their local area that meets FA standards.
Clubs must also provide qualified coaches, first aiders and child welfare officers.
To be recognised in such a way by the FA is a considerable achievement for all that have been involved in gaining the Charter for Maypole and for all the managers who have attained F.A Level 1, Level 2 & UEFA badges.
F.A. Community Standard
Maypole FC achieved FA Community Club status in February 2009, and to this day are still very proud to of achieved the highest accolade within the FA structure.
At the time, within 'Birmingham County FA' we were only 1 of only 12 affiliated clubs from 2,500 clubs to of received the FA Community status.
What is Community Status?
At first, clubs achieve Charter Standard Club Status, it is then followed by Development Club Status with the pinnacle of the club development pathway being the attainment of Community Club status.
The FA Community Club scheme builds upon the foundations of the Charter Standard scheme in placing clubs at the heart of their community. Community Clubs have a high quality, multi-team set up with excellent social, training and playing opportunities for all. As such, the number of Community Clubs is one of the truest measures of success for The FA Football Development strategy.
Gaining the Community Club kite-mark has already been a significant factor in assisting clubs like Maypole to fund applications by providing evidence of a commitment to providing a sporting facility for use by the entire community.
